Launching a Waste Treatment Centre

The Issue:

Wimpey Waste Management planned to open a toxic liquid waste treatment centre in the North East. However, the company was aware of local people’s potential concerns.

The Project:

To devise and implement a transparent, issue-led and educative communication campaign, designed to address and allay these potential concerns.

Action:

Launching the new treatment centre with a strongly argued, transparent and educative media conference and follow up campaign. This led to increased awareness of environmental issues, made a case for the new centre, explaining European environmental legislation, environmental, health and safety benefits, as well highlighting waste processing and safety controls.

Result:

Outstanding media attendance and coverage, especially noteworthy among the local press who welcomed the new facility.
